Dalton is not the place where they first met. When Kurt went to Carmel High with the girls to hire Dakota Stanley, that was the first time he saw Blaine Anderson.
“Excuse me?”
Blaine turned around as he reached the bottom of the staircase. His jaw dropped.
It was him.
“Hi! Can I ask you a question? I’m…I’m new here.”
“Kurt.”
Kurt blinked down at him in surprise. “I…yes. Wait, how did you—”
“It’s me, Blaine!”
“Blaine?”
Blaine rolled his eyes. “From Carmel? I mean, my hair was a lot different last year…”

“Excuse me?”
Blaine turned to see a boy in a long red sweater and painted-on jeans holding out his hand.
“Hi, I’m Kurt Hummel.”
Blaine shook his hand with a blush. “Blaine Anderson.”
Kurt smiled. “Nice to meet you, Blaine. Me and my friends are looking for the auditorium. Could you point us in the right direction?”
“Let me guess,” Blaine laughed. “You’re from another school? You want to spy on Vocal Adrenaline?”
Kurt bit his lip and blushed. “Um…yeah. We’re the New Directions from McKinley.”
Blaine smiled. “Across the courtyard on your left. Can’t miss it.”
“Thanks…” Kurt frowned. “Why are you helping us?”
“They wouldn’t let me join Vocal Adrenaline,” Blaine muttered bitterly. “Said I didn’t have the star power.”
Kurt cautiously put a hand on his shoulder, expecting it to be smacked off. It wasn’t. “Please. I bet you’re better than all of them combined.”
Blaine looked up at him and smiled. “Thanks.”

“Blaine!” Kurt gaped. “Wow—hi. How are you?”
“Great!” Blaine laughed. “Different school. So are you spying again?”
Kurt blushed. “Um…”
Blaine smiled. “It’s okay Kurt. The Warblers are about to do an impromptu performance in the senior commons. Come on, I know a short cut.” He grabbed Kurt’s hand and tugged him down the opposite hall, reveling in the feel of the smooth skin.
They arrived just on time, Kurt’s eyes darting everywhere. “So, you’re okay with me spying again? What—the Warblers didn’t let you join either?”
“Not exactly…” Blaine chuckled. He handed his bag off to another student as the a capella group start singing. “Now, if you’ll excuse me…”
He blended right in with his group as he began to sing, turing back to Kurt. “Before you met me, I was alright but things were kind of heavy. You brought me to life now every February, you’ll be my valentine. Valentine…”
Kurt was staring at him in wonder as he sang. He grinned back at him, directing every lyric in his direction.
Let’s go all the way tonight. No regrets, just love.
We can dance until we die. You and I will be young forever.
You make me feel like I’m living a teenage dream the way you turn me on.
I can’t sleep. Let’s run away and don’t ever look back.
Don’t ever look back.
